Day House, located in the Malvern district of Melbourne, is a poetic dialogue between heritage and modernity. The restored Victorian-era facade, complemented by exquisite verandas and detailed decorations, pays tribute to the past, while the surrounding natural and casual landscape design softens the architectural regularity. Stepping indoors, the warm and tactile herringbone wooden floors serve as a bridge between the old and the new, drawing the eye to the framed view of the rear extension and garden. Every corner is filled with a sense of balanced beauty: the timeless charm of the original building merges with the sleekness of modern design, transforming this once inadequately functional family home into a residence that respects history while embracing contemporary life.

位于墨爾本馬爾文區(qū)的 Day House，是一場遺產(chǎn)與現(xiàn)代的詩意對話。經(jīng)過修復(fù)的維多利亞式外立面搭配精致游廊與細節(jié)裝飾，成為對過往的致敬，而周邊自然隨性的景觀設(shè)計則柔化了建筑的規(guī)整感。步入室內(nèi)，溫暖且富有觸感的人字形木地板搭建起新舊過渡的橋梁，將視線引向后方擴建區(qū)域與花園的框景之中。每個角落都充滿平衡之美：原始建筑的時代韻味與現(xiàn)代設(shè)計的利落感相融，讓這座曾無法滿足家庭需求的住宅，蛻變?yōu)榧茸鹬貧v史、又擁抱當下生活的居所。

The rear addition, once shaped by Nicholas Day, now shines with refined interventions. Simplified gable rooflines and strategically placed uplighting highlight its architectural bones, while dark steel-framed windows cut through white walls—like brushstrokes framing garden views. This space is reborn as an open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area: a neutral palette of premium materials sets a calm stage for family gatherings, with a stone kitchen bench and cantilevered breakfast bar becoming the heart of daily moments. Morning light floods in through new windows, turning routine meals into sensory experiences bathed in warmth.

曾由 Nicholas Day 設(shè)計的后方擴建部分，如今在精致改造下煥發(fā)新生。簡化后的山墻屋頂與精心布置的向上照明凸顯其建筑結(jié)構(gòu)，深色鋼框窗戶劃破白色墻面 —— 如同畫筆勾勒出花園景致。這片區(qū)域被重塑為開放式廚房、客廳與餐廳：高品質(zhì)材料打造的中性色調(diào)為家庭聚會奠定寧靜基調(diào)，石材廚房島臺與懸挑早餐吧成為日常時光的核心。晨光透過新窗戶涌入，讓尋常三餐都化作沐浴在溫暖中的感官享受。

The new contemporary extension, a tertiary structure, is the project’s bold climax. Clad in dark stained timber, its streamlined form contrasts sharply with the Victorian heritage, yet feels harmonious with the landscape. Generous windows erase boundaries between inside and out, letting occupants soak in garden views while natural light fills every corner. Concealed BBQs maintain a clean aesthetic, and continuous paving leads gently to the pool—turning the outdoors into an extension of the living space. Here, modernity doesn’t overshadow the past but dances with it, creating a space that feels both cutting-edge and rooted.

作為第三層建筑結(jié)構(gòu)，全新的現(xiàn)代擴建部分是整個項目的大膽高潮。深色防腐木材覆蓋的簡潔造型與維多利亞遺產(chǎn)建筑形成鮮明對比，卻又與景觀環(huán)境和諧相融。大面積窗戶打破室內(nèi)外界限，讓居住者在沐浴自然光的同時飽覽花園景致。隱藏式燒烤設(shè)備保持了整體美學的簡潔性，連貫的鋪裝緩緩延伸至泳池 —— 將戶外空間化作生活區(qū)域的延伸。在這里，現(xiàn)代感并未掩蓋歷史，而是與之共舞，打造出既前衛(wèi)又扎根于場地的獨特空間。

Bedrooms become intimate sanctuaries, woven with color and memory. The master suite, inspired by the original leadlight, wraps in soft pinks—Australian marble with apricot, grey, and copper tones infuses warmth, turning bedtime into a serene ritual. Children’s rooms bloom in fresh greens, their restored marble fireplaces adding a touch of timeless charm, where play and rest coexist. These spaces aren’t just functional; they’re emotional anchors—each color, texture, and detail telling a story of the family who lives here, blending comfort with personal history.

臥室化作充滿色彩與記憶的私密庇護所。主臥以原始鉛條玻璃為靈感，被柔和的粉色包裹 —— 帶有杏色、灰色與銅色紋理的澳大利亞大理石注入溫暖，讓入睡時刻成為寧靜的儀式。兒童房則以清新的綠色為主調(diào)，修復(fù)后的大理石壁爐增添一絲永恒魅力，讓玩耍與休憩在此和諧共存。這些空間不僅具備功能性，更是情感的支柱 —— 每一種色彩、紋理與細節(jié)，都訴說著居住于此的家庭故事，將舒適與個人記憶完美融合。
