Some people think that only the best students should be rewarded. Others, however, think that it is more important to reward students who show improvements. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Introduction
Although use of reward has long been a cornerstone of motivational strategies in educational institutions worldwide, no consensus has been reached over how to distribute these rewards properly. Some people advocate for rewarding solely the top-performing students, whereas others contend that rewarding students who demonstrate progress carries more significance.
? cornerstone n.
? consensus n.
? distribute v.
? advocate for 為……
Body paragraph 1
Reasons for straight-A prizes mainly revolves around upholding standards of excellence. Desiring to be recognized as the top performers, naturally gifted and highly diligent students are fueled to strive for the highest possible standards. When they enter the real-world competition, this dedication and hard work act as a catalyst for winning other competitive situations such as job interview or job promotion. However, a hidden risk of this score-based model relates to potential demotivation and inequality, as this reward system could be perceived as unattainable for the majority of the class, who believe that their effort is futile.
? straight-A n.
? uphold v.
? diligent adj.
? strive for 為……
? act as a catalyst
? demotivation n.
? unattainable adj.
? futile adj.
Body paragraph 2
The alternative view—emphasizing on improvements—is therefore supported by people who advocate for inclusive motivation. Being inherently more democratic, this system recognizes if a student shows progress, regardless of their starting point. For example, it may involve more determination for a student to move from a grade D to a B in mathematics, in comparison to a student maintaining an A. Needless to say, this recognition makes indispensable contributions to anxiety reduction by encouraging students to attempt more challenging problems or participating in class without the worry of being wrong. This ultimately creates a more dynamic and positive classroom culture.
? alternative n.
? inclusive adj. 包容廣闊的; 包括一切費用在內的; 包括的,包含的;
? inherently adv.
? democratic adj.
? determination n. 決心,堅定; 決定,裁定;
? participate in v.
? dynamic adj.
Conclusion
My view is that personal efforts can never be sacrificed as a benchmark for measuring progress. Given the equal importance in some curriculum, schools should take into account the particularity of students and make wise decisions.
? benchmark n.
