Recent online discussions have stirred debate over the biological father of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, with some netizens speculating that it was not Emperor Shunzhi, but rather Hong Chengchou — a senior Ming dynasty official who later played a pivotal role in the Qing conquest.

對此，中央民族大學嚴實教授在接受采訪時指出，“從基因科學的角度來看，康熙生父另有其人一說沒有證據支持，努爾哈赤、康熙、雍正、弘晝是相同父系。”

嚴實是首位通過DNA研究確定清太祖努爾哈赤Y染色體類型的分子人類學研究者。他曾于2019年采樣過雍正第五子和恭親王弘晝的后代，結果確實來自努爾哈赤C2b1a2b1-F14751這條支系。

In response to these claims, professor Yan Shi from Minzu University of China has stated that there is no genetic evidence supporting this theory. "From the perspective of genetic science, there is no evidence to support the claim that Emperor Kangxi had a different biological father," Professor Yan said in an interview. "Nurhaci, Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Hongzhou all shared the same paternal lineage."

Yan is a leading molecular anthropologist who was the first researcher to identify the Y-chromosome type of Nurhaci, the founding emperor of the Qing Dynasty, through DNA analysis. In 2019, he conducted DNA tests on descendants of Hongzhou, the fifth son of Emperor Yongzheng, which confirmed they belong to the specific paternal lineage: C2b1a2b1-F14751, descending from Nurhaci.

嚴實介紹稱，“我們比較其DNA序列（如對Y-STR和Y-SNP等的檢測），發現自報愛新覺羅的人中有一半屬于一個共祖不超過600年的支系，且分布在族譜的早晚分出的各支當中。而Y染色體不屬于這一支系的人互相結果均不相同，可能有攀附、領養等情況。結合族譜，我們認為C2b1a2b1-F14751這支就是從努爾哈赤祖先直到至少雍正帝的Y染色體類型。”

Yan explained the methodology: "By comparing their DNA sequences, including tests on Y-STR and Y-SNP markers, we found that half of the self-identified Aisin Gioro individuals belong to a specific lineage that shares a common ancestor within the last 600 years. This lineage is distributed across various branches of the genealogical records. Conversely, individuals whose Y chromosomes do not belong to this specific lineage show different results from each other, which could indicate cases of false claims or adoption in the historical records. Combining this genetic data with the genealogical records, we conclude that the C2b1a2b1-F14751 lineage represents the Y chromosome type passed down from Nurhaci's ancestors at least until the time of Emperor Yongzheng."
